First, remove the engine from the vehicle and take out the bolts connecting the flex plate to the crankshaft. Insert a flat 3/16" screwdriver blade between the dust lip on the engine and the metal case of the seal and pry the seal out, making sure the blade remains away from the seal surface and might contact the chamfer part. If you notice any burrs or scratches, sand the crankshaft edge using 400 grit sandpaper so the seal doesn't get scratched during installation. Then put Special Tool 6926-1 Guide onto the crankshaft and make sure the edge of the seal lip is by the guide as you cover the seal over the tool. Operate Special Tool 6926-2 Installer and C-4171 Handle to seat the seal even with the surface of the retainer housing. The next step is to reinstall the flex plate to the crankshaft and then set the engine in place in the vehicle.
