How to Service the Drive Belt for the A/C Compressor/Generator on a 2.7L Engine on 2002 Chrysler Sebring?

Before cleaning or servicing the A/C Compressor/Generator Belt, lift the car on a hoist, take off the right front tire and take out the belt splash shield. Come at the tensioner locking bolt and pivot bolt and spin the tensioner in a clockwise direction; this gives you the space to remove the belt. Make sure that any oil, grease and coolant has been removed from the grooves of the pulley before you fit the drive belt. You should replace the belt if it looks worn, torn or severely glazed; however, tiny cracks in the Poly-V Belts due to restriction are not a problem, so long as you do not see big parallel cracks. It is important that the new belt is installed correctly and that all its V-grooves come into contact with the pulley. With the belt at its loosest, put it on the pulleys (including the idler last). Once the belt tension has been adjusted, take out the belt splash shield, then refit the right front wheel and lower the whole vehicle.
