2002 Chrysler Sebring Exhaust Pipe Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Exhaust Pipe on a 2.7L Engine on 2002 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before working on the cross-under pipe on a 2.7L engine, make sure the exhaust has cooled, given that its temperature is very high at the catalytic converter. To start, jack up the car and disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor wiring harnesses. Following this, undo the oil pan to the transmission structural collar and remove the exhaust system pipe from the cross-under pipe. Take out the fasteners that join the cross-under pipe to the catalytic converters before taking the pipe out. During installation, set a new gasket below the rear catalytic converter and, if fitting a new cross-under pipe, move the oxygen sensors to it. Tighten the cross-under pipe onto the catalytic converters so the nuts are all equal by using just your hands. For the nuts of the cross-under pipe to the rear catalytic converter, apply 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) and do the same for the front catalytic converter nuts. Attach the exhaust pipe to the cross-under pipe and then align them with 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) of torque on the attaching fasteners. Slip the oil pan back onto the transmission's structural collar, connect the backside oxygen sensors to their connectors and then gently lower the vehicle.
