2002 Chrysler Sebring Catalytic Converter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Rear Catalytic Converter on a 2.7L Engine on 2002 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Whilst you are working on the catalytic converter, start by unhooking the negative battery cable and lifting the car with a hoist. Take out the exhaust cross-under pipe and separate the upstream oxygen sensor. Then, unscrew the nuts holding the converter to the exhaust manifold, remove the heat shield under the manifold and take out and discard the catalytic converter, along with its gasket. Be sure to clean where the manifold attaches, then put a fresh gasket onto the flange connecting the manifold and the catalyst converter. Join the converter to the exhaust manifold first, next replace the exhaust manifold heat shield and finally tighten the converter's nuts to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). Attach the upstream oxygen sensor, fix the cross-under pipe, lower the vehicle and link the negative battery cable. Run the engine to identify exhaust leaks and take care of them and ensure the exhaust does not touch any body panels and fix any issues.
