  A: To serve and mend the piston rings, you should remove the piston and connecting rod first and then pull out the No. 1 and No. 2 rings using a ring expander tool, the upper and lower oil ring side rails and the oil ring expander. While installing, check the gap between the piston rings and the cylinder bore and piston and fix the order from the head, back and upper rings: expander, first upper oil side rail, second lower oil side rail, No. 2 intermediate ring, to the top, No. 1 upper piston ring. Install the oil ring expander first, fit the side rail end between the oil ring expander and the piston ring groove, hold it tight and press down until it sits in place by itself. Put up the upper side rail first and then the lower side rail. When you install the No. 2 piston ring, ensure its manufacturer's temporary mark (dot) is facing up towards the piston top. Then put in the No. 1 piston ring next.
