At the start, lower fluid from the power steering reservoir and cover all ends of hoses, fittings and steering gear sections to avoid contamination. The return hose is made up of the Return Hose With Tube and the Return Hose To Reservoir. To change the Return Hose With Tube, remove the front fascia, raise the vehicle higher in the event it is needed and take off the left front wheel and tire assembly, together with the wheel opening forward splash shield. Take a hose from the power steering gear and also remove the air shield at the base of the left end of the bumper reinforcement. Remove the clamp and the return hose from one end of the return hose tube, take out the mounting clips from the return hose tube and then take it out of the routing clips along the left frame rail. Stretch the tube portion of the return hose all the way outside the frame rail and pull it forward through the ABS ICU so you can remove it from below the car. From Return Hose To Reservoir, draw fluid using a siphon from the reservoir, remove the tightening screw between the engine coolant reservoir and the recovery bottle and raise the reservoir off its support. After removing the hose clamp and separating the return hose, detach the front fascia and increase the height of the vehicle if that's necessary. Take away the clamp and connect the hose to the left end of the return hose tube and hook it onto the routing clip inside the right frame rail. To install, do the opposite of Step 1, slip the hose past the ABS ICU and onto the frame rail and close the routing clips around it. Put the return hose (to reservoir) on the right end of the return hose tube and fasten it in place with a clamp. Wipe the openings at each end of the hoses and insert fresh O-rings which you have lubricated with power steering fluid. Join the return side power steering fluid hose to the steering gear, making sure the tube nut is torqued to at least 31 Nm (275 inch lbs.) after, then attach the other hose. Install the wheel opening forward splash shield, front fascia and left front wheel by fastening the lug nuts to the recommended pressure in a crisscross order which comes out to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Lift your car, add fluid to the reservoir and run the car to empty air from the lines and find any leaks. First, attach the Return Hose To Reservoir to the routing clip on the right frame rail, make sure it is secured to the right end of the return hose tube and finally reinstall the front fascia. Work the vehicle into the reservoir part way, attach the return hose to the fitting, attach the clamp to the hose past the upset bead, lower the reservoir and install the mounting screw. After that, add fluid to the reservoir and press the bleed valve to check for any leaks.
