2002 Chrysler Sebring Thermostat Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Thermostat on 2002 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before beginning thermostat service or repair, first unplug the negative cable from the connection on the remote terminal. Keeping the system cool and under no pressure helps prevent burns from the coolant. Empty the cooling system and lift the car to a stand. After that, take out the right front wheel and the belt splash shield, then the accessories' drive belts. Cut the lower mount bolt and lower the car. You should disconnect the generators, AC clutch and AC pressure sensor electrical lines and wire components and then reposition the wiring harness. Take away the oil dipstick and tube, seal the opening in the oil pan with a water-tight source, to prevent coolant from seeping in and harming your engine. Remove the rest of the bolts securing the generator before you remove the unit. Around the thermostat housing, remove the hoses and also the bolts that keep the thermostat and housing together. Pull the gasket off the sealing surfaces, install the thermostat with the valve face-up and then put the gasket into the airconditioner housing. Connect the thermostat and housing to the cylinder block, use the wrench to tighten bolts to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) and plug the hoses at the thermostat housing. Attach the generator with bolts installed, then wipe off any loose coolant and remove the drain plug in the oil pan to guide the new engine oil dipstick tube into the hole. Reattach the AC clutch and AC pressure sensor wires and connect the wires for the generator. Raise the car enough with a hoist to fit the belts, add back the belt shield and the right front wheel; only then lower the vehicle. After that, attach the negative battery cable and top up the cooling system.
