  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Cruise Control Servo on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
    A: In order to service and repair the cruise control servo first disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery. Secondly, remove the vacuum hose from the servo and lastly the electrical plug from the servo. Now disconnect the servo cable at the throttle body and remove / install per the removal and installation procedures for the servo cable. First remove the two mounting nuts that retain servo cable sleeve to the bracket, then pull the speed control cable sleeve and servo away from the mounting bracket to expose and remove the retaining clip on the cable. Also note the orientation of the servo vs the bracket as you remove them. To install, move the servo to the mounting bracket, align the hole in the cable connector to the hole in the servo pin and install the cable to servo retaining clip. Install the mounting nuts and tighten with a torque wrench to 8.5 Nm (75 in. lbs.)insert the servo mounting studs through the holes in the mounting bracket. Attach the vacuum line and electrical connector to the servo, attach the cable to the servo and throttle body. Then reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery and use the accelerator pedal to make sure there is no binding before starting the engine.
