2002 Dodge Dakota Door Latch Assembly Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Door Latch Assembly on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
A: To fix the latch on your front door, take out the door trim panel and remove any water dam that blocks your way. Fold the glass to the interior and release the bolts connecting the rear glass run channel to the door and then slowly move the run channel and attach it to the door. After that, detach the screws connecting the latch to the door shut face and take off the cable socket for power door locks if they are part of the vehicle. Remove the link from the lock button, lock cylinder, inner handle and exterior handle to the latch. After separating the latch from the door, install it by first joining the latch rod to the outside handle, then to inside handle, the lock cylinder and lock button. Fix the latch on the door, add the screws to both door faces and tighten them properly to 10 Nm. Reattaching the handle, the rod and the connector for power doors is required if your car has power locks. Fit the back glass run channel, put the water dam in place and replace the door trim panel. Adjust the exterior handle if needed.
