2002 Dodge Dakota Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Install an Oil Filter on an Engine on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
A: A top-quality, disposable full flow oil filter is fitted on all AWD engines and the Corporation recommends either a Mopar or an equivalent filter. Get a drain pan under the oil filter and use a proper oil filter wrench to turn the filter counterclockwise. Twist the oil filter anticlockwise to remove it from the cylinder block oil filter boss. When the filter is removed from the adapter nipple, raise the gasket end to stop oil from flowing out and take out the filter. Before you insert a new filter, use a wiping cloth to clean the gasket sealing part of the oil tank. Grease the gasket with a drop or two of engine oil or chassis grease and turn on the filter until it fits tight on the adapter nipple. After the gasket touches the seal, tighten the filter one turn by hand without tightening it further and then add oil.
