2002 Dodge Durango Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace and Adjust a Rear Wiper Arm on 2002 Dodge Durango?
A: The first thing to do is gently pry off the plastic cap covering the nut on the pivot of the rear wiper arm, then unscrew the nut connecting the rear wiper arm to the rear wiper motor output shaft. Make use of a proper battery terminal puller to take out the rear wiper arm from its connection with the motor output shaft splines by gently moving the pivot end back and forth. Before starting the installation, start the ignition switch and press the rear wiper switch so it moves to OFF; then, if you can hear or feel the motor output shaft, wait for it to stop before turning the ignition switch back to OFF. Line up the end of the rear wiper motor arm with the rear wiper arm while you're in park, placing the pivot of the arm so that the center of the wiper blade is halfway between the upper blackout area on the lower liftgate glass and the trademark at the lower right corner. Screw the nut that holds the wiper arm retainer to 18 Nm (160 in. lbs.), followed by gentle lowering of the wiper arm so the blade lands on the glass. Note wet the liftgate glass, use the rear wiper, flick the wiper switch to the OFF position and then look at the wiper arm to ensure it is where it should be. Place the plastic cap over the nut at the pivot end of the rear wiper arm.
