2001 Dodge Durango Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Rear Wiper Arm on 2001 Dodge Durango?
A: The first step is to carefully get rid of the plastic nut cap from the wiper arm's pivot end. Take out the nut that is holding the rear wiper arm onto the rear wiper motor shaft. Work the front wiper arm away from the rear wiper motor splines by using the battery terminal puller and then rock the rear wiper arm pivot off the rear wiper motor shaft to free it. Before mounting the motor, turn the ignition ON and use the rear wiper switch to switch the wiper off. If you see the wiper motor's shaft moving, hold it and let it stop. After that, go back to OFF on the ignition. When the motor is in park, attach the rear wiper arm shaft to the motor output. Position the pivot so the center of the blade is centered between where the top of the lower liftgate glass meets the blackout area and the bottom of the trademark on the right. Screw the retaining nut onto the wiper arm until it equals 18 Nm (160 in. lbs.) and then carefully lower the wiper arm so the blade covers the glass. Turn on the blast of water to the liftgate window, work the rear wiper, turn the switch to OFF and make sure the wiper arm is properly positioned and in place. At last, screw the plastic nut cap back onto the nut at the end of the wiper arm.
