How to Service and Repair a Trunk Lid Latch on 2002 Dodge Neon?

Start the service and repair of the trunk/liftgate latch by opening the decklid. Unscrew the bolts that grip the decklid latch, then get the latch off the decklid. After that, uncouple the cable between the remote decklid latch release and the decklid latch and remove the connector from the decklid ajar switch and the latch. After you've removed the original latch, install the new latch and attach the decklid ajar switch connector to it. Connect the end of the release cable to the latch on the decklid, insert the bolts into the latch and thread them into the decklid.
