2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Start by baking and unfastening the jam nut and outer tie rod end nut off the ball stud to service the tie rod end. Use Remover 8677 to disconnect the tie rod ball stud from the knuckle and afterwards unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod. Lift the outer tie rod end upward, place it over the inner end, return them to their original slots and install them onto the steering knuckle. Secure the ball stud nut tightening it to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.), set the tire toe after that and cinch the jam nut to a pressure of 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.). Make sure that boot is not twisted before, during or after you install or take it out.
