2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Van Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the rear engine mount on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
A: When servicing the rear engine mount, lift the car on a hoist and then place a transmission jack under the rear engine and transmission so it is raised slightly. Release the bolt and nut from the rear mount, pull off the U-shaped bracket on the crossmember and remove the insulator from the U-shaped bracket. After that, remove the rear engine support bracket from the underside of the transmission extension housing. Connect the bracket behind the engine to the back of the transmission extension and bolt it down with the front ones at 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) and the rear one at 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Fasten the insulator into position on the U-shaped bracket and turn each nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) after fitting them. Put the through-bolt through the assembly of the insulator, U-bracket and rear engine support bracket, then tighten the nut to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.). Join the U-shaped bracket to the crossmember and screw in the bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). After that, undo the transmission jack and let the car down slowly.
