    Q: How to service and repair the rear engine mount on Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
    A:
    Bringing the rear suspension above ground on a hoist and then using a transmission jack to just raise the transmission and engine is the first thing to do. Disconnect the rear mount bolt and nut, then take the U-shaped bracket from the crossmember and remove the insulator from it. Remove the engine fix bracket found at the bottom back of the transmission extension housing. To install the engine, fit the rear engine support bracket to the underside of the transmission extension housing and tighten the front bolts to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) and the rear bolt to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Put the insulator over the U-shaped bracket and tighten the nuts until they have a torque of 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Pass the through-bolt through the whole device and tighten it on the nut to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.), inserting it into the insulator, U-bracket and rear support bracket at the same time. Connect the U-shaped bracket with bolts to the crossmember and tighten them to 41 Nm or 30 ft. lbs. When finished, remove the transmission jack and drive the car down.

    Before you handle the front engine mount, discharge the negative battery cable, open the hood and move the fan to ensure the radiator top tank and hose will not be obstructed. Lift the vehicle with a hoist after adding Engine Support Fixture Tool C-3487-A. Take the nuts out of the brackets and insulators, then lift the engine with the support fixture enough to free the mounts. During installation, with the engine above the chassis, mount the insulators and brackets, after that, bring the engine lower while steering the insulator studs into the holes on the crossmember and brackets. Set each attaching nut to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) and each bolt to 88 Nm (68 ft. lbs.). Raise the car again, remove the support for the engine, rest the fan in its intended place and link the battery's negative cable back to the engine.
