  A: Be sure that the ignition key is inside the cylinder before trying to pull out the lock. The first step is to take off the negative cable from the battery. Remove the tilt lever by turning the center of the tilt column counterclockwise if your model has one. After that, remove the top and bottom cover from the steering column.
