- Q: How is the Battery Sensor Positioned, Removed, and Installed on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?A: The sensor for battery temperature is found beside the vehicle's battery on one of the mounting holes on the battery tray. For vehicles with dual batteries and a diesel powertrain, only one sensor is required, placed below the driver's side battery. First, take out the battery, next disconnect the pigtail harness from the engine wire harness and then lift the sensor straight from inside the battery tray hole. Guide the pigtail harness through the battery tray's topmost opening, then press the sensor into the top of the tray until it snaps cold sealed. After that, join the pigtail harness and mount the battery again.
