How to Maintain an Exhaust Heat Shield on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?

Start by putting the vehicle's front end and wheels up. Once you have removed the nuts or bolts that attach the exhaust heat shield to the pan, crossmember or bracket, just slide the shield out from around the exhaust. To prepare the installation, place the exhaust heat shield onto the floor pan, crossmember or bracket, put the nuts or bolts in and tighten them to 11 Nm (100 inch lbs.) and then gently lower the car.
