2002 Dodge Ram 3500 Exhaust Pipe Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Exhaust Pipe on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Replace gas can includes You should first take off the negative cables from the battery and raise the car with a hoist before working on the exhaust pipe. Lubricate the bolts and nuts with heat valve lubricant and allow them to soak with the lubricant for 5 minutes. Taking out the clamp on the exhaust pipe-to-extension pipe will allow you to remove the exhaust pipe from the extension pipe; however, after that, you need to detach the bolts connecting the exhaust pipe to the turbocharger elbow and remove the exhaust pipe from the transmission support. Check all the parts and throw away rusted clamps, broken or excessively worn supports and loose attached components. Use original or similar parts to secure them firmly and ensure the exhaust doesn't make too much noise. First, set the exhaust pipe into its position under the transmission support and on the turbocharger flange and then fit the elbow bolts, tightening them carefully to 31 Nm (23 ft.lbs.) torque. Slide the extension pipe and clamp over the exhaust pipe, tighten the clamp nuts to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) using your wrench and fix them using a new clamp. Get your vehicle on the ground, secure the battery wires and run the car to check for gas leaks and see if there is sufficient clearance between the exhaust and body panels.
