2002 Dodge Ram 3500 Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Washer Pump on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Start by cutting and packing away the negative lead from the battery when working on the windshield washer motor. After that, separate the headlamp and dash wire harness connector from the washer pump/motor motor connector receptacle. Take out the washer hose from the barbed nipple on the pump/motor, so the washer fluid can be collected in a clean container to use again. Use a trim stick or a similar wide flat-bladed tool to slide the barbed washer pump nipple out of the rubber grommet seal in the reservoir and be careful not to hurt the reservoir as you do so. Lift and remove the rubber grommet seal from the washer reservoir at the spot for the pump. During installation, set a new rubber grommet seal into the washer pump mounting hole at the bottom of the washer reservoir. Push the inlet nipple of the washer pump onto the rubber seal in the reservoir, placing it gently and picking around it until you get a proper fit. Put the washer hose back on the washer pump barbed outlet nipple and attach the dash and headlamp wire harness connector for the pump/motor to the connector receptacle on the motor. Replace the drainage from the washer reservoir using washer cleaner and then start by reconnecting the battery negative cable.
