2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in HVAC System for Liquid Hose on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before you replace the A/C liquid hose/line, unconnect and isolate the negative battery cable and then recover the refrigerant. Undo the clamps holding the liquid line against the inner fender shield and the dash panel in your engine compartment and take out the line. Remove the liquid line from both the condenser and evaporator, then block all of its fittings with plugs or tape after you disconnect them. Take the liquid line off the plastic tabs on the right inner fender shield and remove the whole line from the vehicle. When setting up your system, prevent sharp bends in the refrigerant system, keeping the bend radius at least ten times as long as the hose and leaving the lines at least 80 millimeters from the exhaust manifold. Pressure-test all connections of the refrigerant system and check flexible hose refrigerant lines annually. Pull the tape or plug off the refrigerant line fittings on the condenser outlet tube and secure the liquid line to it using a tightening nut at 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). After that, separate the tape or plugs from the bottom of the evaporator line, aligning it with the evaporator outlet and securing with the nut until the dial reads 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). Set the liquid line into the plastic retainer clips, fasten them together, attach the battery negative cable, evacuate all refrigerant and fill the system with refrigerant.
