2003 Chrysler 300M Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Left Exhaust Manifold on 2003 Chrysler 300M?
A: Before servicing the left exhaust manifold, disconnect the negative cable from the remote jumper terminal and then lift the vehicle with a hoist. Pull off the exhaust system and undo the transaxle support bolt at the converter pipe before bringing the vehicle down. Then, open and take away the V-Band clamp at the exhaust manifold connection and make sure you won't reuse it. Disconnect the sensor's harness cover, pull out the wires from the oxygen sensor connector and detach the sensor from the manifold. Take out the heat shield by loosening its bolts first and next remove the exhaust manifold bolts. Afterward, pull out the exhaust manifold and gasket. Examine the exhaust manifolds for breaks or dents, test their flatness and observe the gasket at the exhaust manifold's joint for changes in appearance. In addition, measure the rectangle at the top of the cylinder head using a straightedge and thickness gauge to see if it is straight. Placing the exhaust manifold and gasket, first tighten the central bolt and then tighten the others around it to a torque of 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Install the heat shields again and tighten their bolts to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.); then, connect the oxygen sensor to the manifold and attach the electrical adapter. Screw the electrical connector bracket to the brace, place a new V-Band clamp and tighten it to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.). Once finished, lift the vehicle again. Fit the nut on the converter pipe support to the transaxle mount until it reaches 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.), place the exhaust back, lower the car and connect the negative cable.
