2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for Supply Hose on 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: It is necessary to remove most of the power steering fluid from its reservoir before servicing or repairing the supply hose. Open the hood and take off the front grille, then unfasten the hood-opening weather-strip from the radiator panel and take the ambient temperature sensor off it. Then, unscrew everything that is securing the radiator cover and remove the panel. Pull the hose off the fitting at the reservoir where it is clamped to the power pump, then remove the hose from the rest of the system from the vehicle. Put hose clamps on both finishes of the brand new hose for power steering fluid, directly next to the fittings on the reservoir and pump. Bring the hose's pump end to the pump supply fitting and join the reservoir end with the reservoir's power steering fitting. Pull apart the hose clamp enough to fit over the hose and the reservoir fitting, with the clamp's closed end covering the bead inside the reservoir fitting. Do the same for the other hose clamp at the pump supply fitting. Check that the positioning of the hose will leave it moving above the engine's timing chain cover and out of harm's way. After that, mount the radiator closure panel, secure it with the screws, install the ambient temperature sensor and then mount the hood-opening weather-strip. Once everything is placed, run the Power Steering Pump Initial Operation procedure, then look for leaks at all hose fittings.
