2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Van ABS Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the ABS Control Module's Hydraulic Control Assembly on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
A: Begin cleaning and servicing the Hydraulic Control Assembly for the antilock brakes by taking out the left turn signal housing and the extension panel below it. First, unplug the horn connector, next remove the access cover and finally take out the washer reservoir mounting screws. Raise the reservoir to remove the connector running from the pump motor to the hose and remove the reservoir from its position under the hood. After disconnecting the battery cables, remove the battery and next remove the power distribution center and its mount. Unlock the locks on the harness connector and take out the connectors from the CAB. Pull the brake lines loose from the HCU, after that, loosen and pull the front mounting bolt out through the front access opening and the rear mounting bolt from within the engine compartment. Pull the assembly up at the brake line joint and take it out of its bracket. To complete installation, replace the assembly into the mounting point, attach it with eight mounting bolts tightened to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) and join the brake lines to the HCU, tightening each to 13 Nm (115 in. lbs.). Put the CAB harness connectors back together and secure them, after that replace the washer reservoir in the engine compartment, attaching the pump motor connector and hose before using the reservoir mounting screws. After installing the capacity board, attach the battery and power distribution center and then run the battery and power distribution center cables. Next, put in the horn connector, add the access cover and the extension panel, insert the left turn signal housing and bleed all the brakes.
