2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Blower Motor Resistor on 2003 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Begin by blocking the air bag system in vehicles that have one by taking out the battery negative cable, then wait at least two minutes to let the capacitor empty. Keep some distance from the blower motor resistor heat sink to avoid accidents and don't try running the blower with the resistor out of the car. Remove the battery negative cable as the very first step. You will discover the blower motor resistor on the passenger side, at the bottom of the HVAC unit. Pull the lock out of the connector on the blower motor resistor wire harness, depress the latch and then disconnect the connector from the resistor. Open the white cover on the HVAC housing, then remove the two screws and lift the resistor out. To set up the resistor, add it to the HVAC housing and hold it in place with the two screws, turning them to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Insert the blower motor harness connector, slide the lock to connect firmly, close the glove box door and then put back the negative battery connector.
