2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service a Blower Motor Resistor on 2004 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Start by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery terminal to turn off the air bag system on cars that have them, then wait at least two minutes for the capacitor to empty. It is important to avoid the blower motor resistor's heat sink, as it usually becomes hot and never operate the blower motor when the resistor has been removed. You should first remove the negative battery cable, then head under the instrument panel and disconnect the wire harness connected to the blower motor resistor block. Open the resistor block by removing the two screws that connect it to the HVAC housing and remove the block as well. Before installing, set the blower motor resistor block in place and then attach the two screws, tightening them to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Put the wire harness connector onto the resistor block after that and then attach the battery negatively again.
