2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Cigarette Lighter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Cigarette Lighter Power Outlet on 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: First, remove and isolate the battery's negative cable when working with the front cigarette lighter. Take out the center lower bezel from the instrument panel. Disable power by pulling the cigarette lighter knob and element or the protective cap out of the cigarette lighter receptacle or lift the cigarette lighter door from the instrument panel center lower bezel. Open the lighter or cigarette lighter receptacle base to find the rectangular retaining bosses which help hold the receptacle base to the center lower bezel of the instrument panel. Twist your external snap ring pliers onto the retaining bosses, squeeze them and gently rock the pliers to release and remove the receptacle base. Get rid of the cigarette lighter mount from the center lower area of the instrument panel. Once you have the receptacle base connector aligned with the mount, insert the mount into the lower bezel of the instrument panel. Place the retaining bosses all the way down until you can't go any further. Add the knob and its element or put the protective cap back on or close the cigarette lighter door. After that, place the center lower bezel back on the instrument panel and attach the negative cable to the battery.
