2003 Jeep Liberty Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an Ignition Lock Cylinder on 2003 Jeep Liberty?
A: As a first step, make sure the ignition key is inserted into the key cylinder, because you need to get rid of it before you can deal with the switch. For cars with an automatic gearbox, you should put the shifter into the PARK position. First, take off the lower shroud cover, proceed to the remote keyless entry (RKE) module and next, open the ignition lock cylinder halo ring. Move the key to switch on, then search at the base of the lock for the release tang. Put a screwdriver or pin punch into the opening at the bottom of the steering column and push it upward as you pull the ignition lock cylinder out of the steering column. During installation, as before, put the key into the ignition. Affix the ignition lock cylinder with the ignition and push it all the way until it clicks. First, put the key to the lock position, then set the halo ring on the ignition lock cylinder housing, then fit the RKE module and lastly the shroud cover.
