2003 Jeep Wrangler Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Wiper Motor on 2003 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before changing the rear wiper motor, remove and disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Remove the wiper arm from the rear wiper motor, then take out the nut that holds the threaded sleeve of the motor outside the liftglass and remove its washer. After that, pull the back wiper motor trim cover away from the inside of the liftglass and separate the wire connector from the back wiper motor's wire harness. Take out the nut and washer that hold the insulator of the rear wiper motor bracket to the liftglass stud and then carefully draw the rear wiper motor away from the liftglass until the output shaft clears the rubber grommet in the hole. Lift the rear wiper motor and mounting bracket together and external rubber grommet from the liftglass output shaft hole. You should first ensure the alignment arrow on the rubber grommet lines up with the arrowhead on the glass before placing the grommet back into the hole in the output shaft. Position the rear wiper motor inside the liftglass so the output shaft passes through the grommet and the mounting bracket insulator is placed over the stud. Remount the washer on the stud, attach the rear wiper motor bracket insulator using the nut and washer and tighten the nut to 6 N.m (54 in. lbs.). Place the washer back over the sleeve on the rear wiper motor and tighten its nut by hand to 44 in. lbs. Connect the hardtop wiring to the motor pigtail, mount the trim cover back over the rear wiper arm and then secure the rear wiper arm to the output shaft. After that, connect the battery negative cable.
