2002 Jeep Wrangler Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Wiper Motor on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before you start, be sure to block and disconnect the battery negative cable. Pop off the rear wiper arm from the wiper motor's output. Outside the liftglass, loosen the nut and bezel unit that connects to the rear wiper motor and also take away the rubber gasket. Popup the liftglass and unscrew the three screws connecting the trim cover to the rear wiper motor mounting bracket. Unplug the wire harness from the hardtop from the motor pigtail wire connector. Just loosen the nut for the right liftglass hinge and very gently pull the rear wiper motor away, so the shaft goes outside the hole. Advance the motor rightwards until the single slotted hole in the bracket is higher than the grommet underneath the nut on the right side of the hinge and then carefully remove the motor from the liftglass. To install, place the rear wiper motor inside the liftglass and slide it to the left until its slot is even with the hole in the grommet just under the right hinge nut. After tightening the right liftglass hinge nut to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.), replace the hardtop wire harness connector. Cover the rear wiper motor with the inboard cover, insert the three screws and tighten them to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.). On the vehicle exterior, set the rubber gasket on the rear wiper motor shaft and then attach and tighten the nut and bezel to 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.). After fixing the arm, join it to the wiper motor outlet and then fit the battery's negative cable back to its original place.
