2004 Chrysler Crossfire Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Upper Control Arm on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: First, you should take off the front wheel and tire before proceeding. For access to the upper control arm bolt and nut when working on the right, remove the air cleaner housing while the shock absorber is in place. Bolt the steering knuckle to the shock absorber so it won't come loose. Do not apply tension to the brake hose or electrical cables when removing the nut from the upper control arm and do not tighten the bolt with pneumatic tools. Press out the upper ball joint with the Special Tool 9168 Tool 9168 ball joint puller. Then move on to take both the nut and bolt out at the shock tower in the engine compartment to remove the control arm from the body. During installation, tighten all nuts and bolts with the car at normal ride height. Secure the upper control arm with a bolt and nut, turning to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.). First, clean both the ball joint tapered bolt and the mounting hole of the steering knuckle and then install the upper ball joint. Tighten it to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.). Take off the wire tie, lower your car, check the alignment and insert the wheels and tires at the last stage.
