2004 Chrysler Pacifica Thermostat Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Thermostat on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before servicing or repairing a thermostat, make certain the system is turned off and not pressurized to prevent accidental burns. The first step is to take off the negative cable from the remote jumper and empty the cooling system. With the vehicle up on a hoist, unplug the power cables from both the engine oil and power steering pressure switches. After that, unhook the radiator and heater hoses from the thermostat and remove the bolts holding the housing in place. Lift out the housing, thermostat and gasket when you are ready. When setting up the replacement, use a suitable hand-held grinder to get rid of the bulged metal from the thermostat housing so that it fits properly, since the OEM thermostat is fastened in place at the factory but staking is unnecessary for the replacement. Clear off any dirt from the top of the engine, putting in the gasket and thermostat and use bolts to fasten them to the housing. Connect both the thermostat and housing to the front of the cylinder block and tighten the bolts to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Connect both the heater and radiator hoses, putting on the clamps and reconnecting the electrical wires to the oil and steering pressure switches. Lower the car, attach the negative cable to the remote terminal, add coolant and finish by connecting the cable again to the remote jumper.
