First, a refrigerant recovery machine should be used to recover all refrigerant from the A/C system to service and repair the expansion valve. Next, take out the A/C plumbing lines from the expansion valve, but make sure you cap them to keep moisture away from the system. Remove the retaining bolts next and pull the expansion valve from the system when everything is in place. During installation, set the valve up on the evaporator, lift the O-rings and tighten the expansion valve with 7 Nm (60 in. lbs.) of torque. Following that, put new O-rings into place and link the A/C lines to the expansion valve, turning the bolts firmly 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.). After that, move the car outside and turn on the climate control to recharge the HVAC system.
