2004 Dodge Durango Water Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Water Pump Efficiently on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: Disconnect and isolate the battery cable, then remove any water from the engine's cooling system. Open the right side of the engine and remove the air cleaner housing. Slide the spring tension clamp pliers around the hose clamps, squeeze them and move the clamps off the end of the heater hose. Separate each heater hose by gently unscrewing and pulling it from the electric coolant pump tube. Take the coolant pump from the rail on the right front frame and remove the connector from the wire harness before setting it out of the engine compartment. Place the electric coolant pump again in the engine compartment and then connect the wire harness. Attach the pump to the starting point on the mounting bracket and then use the spring tension clamp pliers to release and slide the hose clamp off the end of the heater hoses. Start by twisting the hose onto the electric pump tubes and gently pushing it, then set the hose clamp on the end of the hose. Install the carrying case of the air cleaner back in place, pour coolant into the engine cooling system and link the negative battery cable again.
