In order to take out the water pump on 3.7L/4.7L engines, one has to remove the battery, empty the cooling system, and take out the fan assembly. Undo hoses and unbolt water pump. Install new pump using a clean gasket with adequate torque and clearance and reconnect all and confirm that there are no leaks.
