2004 Dodge Ram 1500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable as your initial step and then recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant line. Unscrew the nut that holds the suction line fitting to the shooter inlet and remove the line from the compressor. Get rid of the inside O-ring around the suction line fitting and secure either tape or plugs over the suction line and inlet connection to your compressor. Remove the secondary retaining clip from the spring-lock coupler securing the suction line to the accumulator outlet tube. Then, separate the suction line from the accumulator outlet tube using the correct A/C line disconnect tool. Throw out the O-ring at the end of the accumulator outlet tube fitting. Once more, cover the opened suction line and accumulator outlet tube fitting with a plug or tape, just as before. During installation, slid the suction line under the hood and remove the tape or plugs that cover the suction line connector and inlet port on the compressor. Coat a new rubber O-ring seal with clean oil made for R-134a and then set it in place on the suction line with the needed special-grade rubber O-ring. Connect the suction line to the compressor, then tighten the attaching nut to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Take out the tape or detach the plugs from the suction line and the accumulator outlet tube, oil a new rubber O-ring and set it on the accumulator tube fitting. Link the suction line to the accumulator outlet tube and add the second retaining clip to the spring-lock coupler securing the line to the tube. After that, put the battery negative cable back on, discharge the refrigerant system and return the refrigerant to the system.
