2005 Dodge Ram 1500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Repair an A/C Hose Discharge Line on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: To take care of the A/C discharge line, recover the refrigerant and unhook the negative battery cable. Remove the wire harness connector from the A/C pressure transducer, unscrew the nut holding the A/C discharge line to the condenser and disconnect the line and take off the seal. Plug or tape up the fitting on the discharge line and on the inlet of the condenser to block any supply of refrigerant. At this point, unscrew the nut connecting the A/C discharge line to the compressor, unfasten the line, throw away the seal and place plug or tape on the open part of both the line fitting and the compressor port. Eliminate the A/C discharge line from the engine compartment and, if required, remove the A/C pressure transducer from that line. To install, put the transducer back on the discharge line from the A/C and set the line inside the engine compartment. Cut away or remove the tape from both the discharge line fitting and A/C condenser inlet port, apply refrigerant oil to the new seal and carefully install this seal onto the discharge line fitting, choosing the proper material seal recommended for R-134a as well as the proper refrigerant oil for the A/C compressor. Screw on the A/C discharge line to the A/C condenser, it should be tightened to 20 N.m or 15 ft.lbs. Pull the tape or plugs from the end of the A/C discharge line and the A/C compressor outlet, lubricate a new seal with clean oil, then place it on the discharge line fitting, connect the end of the line to the compressor, secure it with a nut and tighten until it reaches 20 N.m (15 ft.lbs.). Connect the wire harness to the A/C pressure transducer again, connect the negative battery cable, remove all refrigerant from the system and then add refrigerant to the system.
