2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Evaporator on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before working on the evaporator core, disable the air bag system by separating the battery negative cable, then wait two minutes to make sure the air bag capacitor is discharged. You should disconnect the unit's housing and split it up before accessing the A/C evaporator. Get rid of the temperature probe fixed to the evaporator, then remove the evaporator from the duct work. When the A/C evaporator is replaced, you should add 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of refrigerant oil to the household refrigerant system. After that, carefully place the A/C evaporator into the HVAC housing, clean the drain channel and attach the deflector shield. Fix the temperature sensor back into the evaporator and after that, install the housing.
