2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair a Front Brake Caliper on 2004 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: The first phase is to support the vehicle, take off the wheel and tire assembly and remove the front brake caliper. Press the disc brake caliper to tighten it, then loosen and remove the bolt, drop the copper washer and unbolt the two slide pin bolts to remove the caliper from the disc brake. During installation, place new copper washers on the banjo bolt, set the disc brake caliper over the rotor and be sure the brake hose isn't twisted before tightening the bolt. Attach the banjo bolt on the cylinder head and put new copper washers. After that, tighten this bolt till you have 27 Nm (20 ft.lbs.) of torque. Next, tighten the caliper slide pin bolts all the way down to 32 Nm (24 ft.lbs.) of torque. Pump out the brake fluid, replace the tire and wheel and drop the vehicle down.
