How to Service and Repair an Axle Shaft on 2004 Dodge Ram 3500?

The first step to servicing the axle shafts is to get rid of the axle shaft flange bolts. After that, take out the axle shaft from the axle tube and remove the axle shaft gasket. During installation, change the axle flange bolts or coat cleaned existing bolts with Mopar Lock N' Seal or Loctite 242. Clean both the axle flange and the hub and then put in a new axle shaft gasket. Apply some grease to the axle shaft, put it into the axle tube and tighten the axle shaft flange bolts to 129 Nm (95 ft. lbs.).
