2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Brake Pad Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Effectively Maintain and Repair Brake Pads on 2004 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Start by the lifting and supporting the vehicle, then take off the wheel and tire assemblies to service and repair the brake pads. Press the caliper to compress it, then lift the caliper off by tilting the top and removing the caliper adapter, always avoiding placing the brake hose under the assembly. Place the caliper in your support! Remove the inboard and outboard brake shoes from where they are attached to the caliper adapter. After that, take out the anti-rattle springs from the caliper adapter since they cannot be used in place of each other. Install the caliper pistons by standing the C-clamp on the pistons and sandwiching an old brake shoe in between them. Wash the caliper mounting adapter and the anti-rattle springs and then grease the springs lightly with Mopar brake grease before installing everything. Place both the inboard and outboard brake shoes in the adapter, then put the top of the caliper over the rotor and lowers its bottom onto the adapter. After you've fitted the caliper, put back the wheel and tire groups and let the car down again. Smoothly pump the brake pedal a few occasions to guarantee the calipers take in the brake shoes and fill the master cylinder until the fluid level encloses the mark.
