2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable on 2004 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: First, support the car and raise it so the rear park brake cable is exposed. After locking out the parking brake cable, nip the cable adjuster nut with a wrench to free the cable. Unhook the rear park brake cable from the intermediate cable, push in on the cable end and pull it through the bracket point it was fastened to. Remove the cable from behind the rotor, lower the two cable tabs fitting at the support plate and lift the cables away. For installation, push all cable ends together through the brake cable support plate hole until the cable is secure. After that, feed the cable in the frame bracket and place the tabs from the left cable end fitting into the frame bracket hole. After installing the rear cables into the tensioner rod behind the brake assembly and tying them to the intermediate cable connector, you need to remove the lockout device, do the park brake adjustment procedure and get rid of the supports.
