2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service the Steering Column and Replace the Dimmer Switch on 2004 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before doing any work on the steering column, be sure to disarm the air bag system to prevent it from accidentally falling on you. Start by unfolding and pulling out the negative cable from the battery first. To continue, take out the steering wheel and remove both upper and lower steering column shrouds. Disconnect the wire connector from the back of the multi-function switch. Next, remove the screws holding the switch in place on the steering column adapter collar and pick out the switch. After that, remove the screws attaching the clock spring to the multi-function switch. The first step is to connect the clock spring to the multi-function switch, next, install the switch onto the steering column and attach the screws. Connect the wire harness connector, put back the upper steering column shroud, the lower steering column shroud and the steering wheel. In the end, attach the black negative cable to the battery.
