2004 Dodge Sprinter 2500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in HVAC System for Discharge Hose on 2004 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: First, isolate the negative battery cable by disconnecting it. After that, recover all of the refrigerant in the system. Open the engine compartment, disconnect the nut under the left side of the condenser and pull out the discharge line from the condenser. Substitute the original cone on the discharge line fitting and seal the open side of the fitting and the condenser inlet with a plug or tape. Then, loosen the bolt connected to the discharge line fitting at the top of the compressor, cut the fitting off the compressor discharge and throw away the seal. As before, use a plug or some tape on the open discharge line fitting and the compressor discharge port and then detach the discharge line from the clamp before removing it from your car. Be sure there are no sudden bends in the refrigerant lines during installation and keep the bends to at least ten times the line diameter, keeping the lines a minimum of 3 inches (80 millimeters) from the exhaust manifold. Slide the extra discharge tube into the engine compartment, take off the tape and plugs from the compressor and line, lubricate a fresh rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and fit the seal onto the discharge line fitting. Put the fitting onto the compressor's discharge port, attach the securing bolt and tighten it until you reach 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.). Lift off the tape or plugs from the condenser inlet port and discharge line fitting, glide another O-ring over your finger, lubricate it and place it on the fitting before inserting it into the inlet port. Screw on the nut over the condenser discharge fitting and tighten it to 33 N.m (24 ft. lbs.). Finally, put the front fascia and grille back, clean out the refrigeration system, charge it and link the negative battery cable again.
