2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Front Wiper Arm on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: First, hold the front wiper arm up above the glass and use a tool to release the tension between the wiper arm and wiper pivot shaft, to make swapping the front arm easier. Pry off the plastic nut cap at the end of the wiper arm close to the pivot, then remove the nut holding the wiper arm to the pivot shaft. Should it be required, use a fitting battery terminal puller to remove the wiper arm from the pivot shaft and take out the front end of the wiper arm pivot from the shaft. Insert the wiper motor switch lever into the park position on the right control knob by activating the ignition and switching the knob by hand to Off. Wait for the wiper arms to come to a stop and only then turn the ignition switch off. Rotate the wiper arms to the front so that the wiper pivot shafts move under the wiper arms, placing the wiperpivot arm ends onto the wiper pivot shafts. First, move the wiper arm gently upward to reduce pressure from the spring, then push the connector end onto the wiper spindle until it's flush. Set and tighten the nut at the wiper arm to the wiper pivot shaft so it is 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Spray windshield glass with water, use the wipers to get rid of excess dirt, turn them off and then make sure the arms are correctly positioned; adjust as needed. And finally, replace the nut cap made from plastic onto the pivot nut.
