How to Service and Repair a Door Check on 2004 Jeep Liberty?

The first thing to do for service or repair of the front door check is to take out the waterdam. After that, undo the screws connecting the door check to the A-pillar and take out the two nuts holding the door check strap. The check strap should be positioned so that the part number it shows is facing toward the inside of the vehicle. Insert the check strap into the hole used for the speaker and hold it into place with the nuts, turning them until they reach 12 N.m (9 ft.lbs.). Attach the end of the strap to the A-pillar and tighten each bolt to 12 N.m (9 ft.lbs.). After that, install the waterdam.
