2004 Jeep Liberty Headlight Bulb Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Headlight Bulb on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: Always begin the process by pulling out and shutting off the negative battery wire. In North America, access the headlamp bulb lock ring by reaching behind the unit from the makeshift headlamp purlin on the engine side. Quickly turn the lock ring counterclockwise, no more than 30 degrees and then carefully remove the whole group from the lamp unit housing. Removing the grille opening reinforcement wire harness connector from the bulb socket will allow you to take off the entire unit from inside the car. Removing the battery negative cable first, the Rest-Of-World should take out the headlamp unit through the grille's reinforcement opening. Pull the headlamp boot seal's tab to take it out. Join the two hooked parts of the clip to let them come out of the slots in the reflector and then soften the clip's pivot arm to get it out of the way. Take the bulb straight out of the reflector. When fitting the assembly in North America, select the recommended bulb type and size, slide the bulb into its socket in the lock ring, reattach the wire connector and then line up the assembly with the back hole on the headlamp unit. Make sure the socket and bulb slide all the way into their place in the housing, then turn the lock ring clockwise around the flange and not until you start reconnecting the negative battery cable. Place the bulb in the reflector of the unit, swing the retainer clip around to sit over the bulb flange and push it securely into the reflector's sockets. Set the boot around the end of the bulb before reinstalling the headlamp, attaching the battery negative cable and checking to see that the headlamp is seated properly.
