2004 Jeep Wrangler Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2004 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before going any further, get rid of the accessory drive belts and undo the bolt securing the crankshaft damper. Insert 6827-A into the opening on the damper and rotate the Special Tool 3-Jaw Puller 1026 to take the damper out. During installation, rely on an M12 1.75 x 150 mm bolt, washer, thrust bearing and nut from Special Tool 6792 to fit the crankshaft vibration damper. After that, put the crankshaft vibration damper bolt back on, tighten it to 142 Nm (105 ft. lbs.) and then put the accessory drive belts back in place.
