2005 Chrysler 300 Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Battery Cable in the Engine Compartment for Positive on 2005 Chrysler 300?
A: When working on or fixing the battery cable in the engine compartment, first shut off the ignition and keep all electrical tools off. Uncover the battery by removing the spare tire cover, then disconnect and cut off the battery negative cable (3). Lift the vehicle on a hoist and get to the outside end of the right front wheelhouse splash shield to access the battery positive cable live terminal. Take out the battery positive cable fixed to the bulkhead and also from the starter. The battery positive cable for the 2.7L and 3.5L engines releases from the clips at the engine's rear; on the 5.7L, the cable routes from the starter's rear clip. Disconnect the positive cable from the battery and remember the path it was connected along. Before installing the battery, connect its positive cable to the routing clips for the 2.7L and 3.5L at the back of the engine and to the clip for the 5.7L on the rear of the starter. Clamp the battery positive cable to both the starter and bulkhead fastener and then mount the right front wheelhouse splash shield again. Place the vehicle on the ground, hook the black battery cable onto the car (3) and set the spare tire cover back in place.
